When is a direction-less herd of Walkers not a direction-less herd? When its under the control of the Whisperers, that's who, as these terrifying new enemies, camouflaged and murderous under their layer of undead skin, bring havoc, terror and murder to our surviving noble heroes struggling on to forge a brave new world. The second half of The Walking Dead Season Nine debuts on US TV this Sunday 10th February, 2019.
Our heroes, led by samurai sword-wielding Michonne (Danai Gurira) and motor bike dude icon Daryl (Norman Reedus) have seen for themselves the horrific and savage nature of these grotesque Whiperers, with one of their best and brightest leaders of the Hilltop community in the subtly formidable Jesus (Tom Payne) slain unexpectedly in one of the series saddest and most brutally unexpected moments, from whose aftermath will launch this new run on a scary and very atmospheric continuance note (shades of John Carpenter ahead, for sure). Who, why and what these Whisperers are remains to be seen, but their leaders in the chilling Alpha (Samantha Morton) and Beta (Ryan Hurst) will surely reveal all as they begin their attacks on the three communities once fused together from the legacy of the 'late' Rick Grimes. Such foes arrive in the TV series at a perfect time, what with its re-launch, and a welcome introduction to foes so popular from their original home of The Walking Dead's graphic novel series created by Robert Kirkman.

As the dark, desperate time comes and the Whisperers use their massed hordes to generate fear and attack, a clear omen of bad luck surely lies ahead via the Kingdoms aforementioned planned community fair- surely a potential killing ground target if ever there was one. Just how desperate will our heroes become in their fight back? In the absence of Rick, truly the greatest killing machine for good ever seen in the series, our heroes most brutal and murderous potential retaliation weapon is locked up in a cell, supposedly till the day he dies. But is he still there? Will the once cruel and cunning leader of the Saviours, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), ultimately be put into reunited action with his beloved 'Lucille'? Use a monster to fight monsters, they say - but just what will such consequences bring?

Promising pure horror, shocks and emotional drama ahead, this new reign for the series under long time contributor Angela Kang will surely make its mark during the next eight episodes.
